(FWC) – The Florida Everglades are an extraordinary ecosystem unlike any other in the world.

It is home to a variety of rare and unique wildlife including a diversity of native birds, mammals, fish and reptiles.

However, some reptiles, such as the invasive Burmese python, do not belong to this ecosystem and pose a threat to native wildlife.

The Florida Python Challenge is an exciting conservation effort that helps protect the rare Everglades habitat and the animals that live there from these non-native, invasive snakes.

The python removal contest runs from August 5-14.

Competitors can work as a team, but all participants must register individually. Pythons can only be submitted under the name of a single entrant.

All Florida Python Challenge participants are required to take the free Online training module and pass the quiz with at least 80% before registering.
