Cruce Pest Management offers termite treatment for Riverview, Apollo Beach, Tampa and Ruskin
Cruce Pest Management, located in Riverview off US 301 and Big Bend Rd., provides both prevention and treatment services for southern Hillsborough County as termite season threatens Florida residents. Termites infest Floridian homes every year, especially since Florida is prone to hot, humid weather most of the year.
“I wanted to be able to provide good service at a fair price and earn a fair living. I’ve worked for bigger companies and all they talked about was the numbers. I’m not really a numbers person, I’m more of a people person,” said Robin Cruce, owner of Cruce Pest Management.
In colder states, residents get a break from wood-boring insects because they aren’t as active in the colder, drier months. Cruce urges Hillsborough County residents to take proactive steps to prevent termites from destroying their homes.
Cruce’s top tip is to take care of the humidity around the house, especially in bathrooms, kitchens and around air conditioning units. Termites are attracted to moisture in the home and these areas, although not wood only, typically use wood to support structures, such as showers. Residents should also ensure that the grout is in good condition and does not allow unwanted water to collect in the home.
Cruce said homeowners, especially those living in homes 10 years and older, should walk outside their homes to make sure there’s good air circulation that can dry out the sides of the house. This means preventing bushes and plants from growing closely alongside the house.
Homes usually have a pre-treatment to keep termites away when they are built, but this treatment lasts less than five years. Cruce Pest Management offers a treatment and insurance plan for customers looking to protect their home against termites, as common homeowners insurance does not cover termite damage.
Cruce Pest Management opened in May 2016, so Cruce and his three employees are looking forward to their sixth anniversary.
“We love this area [and] I love working here,” Cruce said. “Every day is an adventure.”
